Resident
Camps
Northwest Soccer Camp provides the ultimate Resident Camp experience.
At Bastyr University surrounded by St. Edwards Park, our resident camps feature Future
Stars Camps for ages 7-9; Field Players for ages 10-18 and Elite Camps for
ages 12-18. The latter features technical, tactical and positional play for
players who have advanced beyond basic skills.
Our coaching staff is selected for their ability to teach boys and girls at
their level and are trained to challenge each camper to improve and advance
their soccer skills. They also strive to provide each camper with an experience
rich with fun, hard work and laughter. Our food is pretty good too!
Our camper-to-coach ratio for ages 7-9 is 1:8 and 1:15 in older age groups.
However, because of our team teaching concept, at times campers may enjoy almost
a 1:1 ratio. The underlying philosophy is that each child is an "individual" needing
the utmost in personal attention and tutoring. This provides a meaningful learning
environment for your child and allows our staff to provide more personal evaluations
at the end of each week.
The evaluations, distributed at closing ceremonies, provide comments and perspective
from each camper's coach. Each evaluation is hand written by the coach and
because of this personalized approach, we hear from campers - years later -
that they cherish the evaluation and often keep it for a long time.
While at one of our Resident Camps, you can expect your camper to have two,
challenging sessions per day with league games each evening. Sessions focus
not only on basic skills and the development of technical and tactical play,
but also stress fitness, good training habits and good sportsmanship. Teams
win games; not individuals!!!
Off-field activities include everything our historic camp site offers, from proper rest breaks to fun-filled
activities. Kids love to nap, but rest assured their days are also packed with fun activities. Located
at scenic Bastyr's campus, on the north shore of Lake Washington and surrounded by the lush and forested 316-acre St. Edward State Park, is a comfortable, friendly setting that provides a quiet, reflective atmosphere for work, study and relaxation.
Northwest Soccer Campers can choose from a variety of
indoor and outdoor optional activities. This includes soccer adaptable games
of basketball, soccer tennis and other free time field options. In addition,
there are volleyball courts, waterfront play, trail hikes, outdoor swimming, dorm Olympics, movies (mostly big time soccer games) and, yes,
we have one of the finest Arts and Crafts Programs under the watchful eye and
gracious tutelage of caring counselors.
Our Elite Week is a no-nonsense week of intense soccer training for male and
female players seeking college acceptance and higher level play. All goalkeeping
sessions are designed for beginners through Elite level play.
